We eat baked Christmas schnitzels 3 times a week
Ingredients for fried Christmas schnitzel:
* 4 pieces of
200g grated cheese (e.g. Gouda or Emmentaler)
* 1 onion, chopped
* 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
* 200ml cream
* 100g ham, cut into pieces
* 1 teaspoon ground paprika
* Salt and pepper to taste
* Oil for fryingPreparation:
1. Fry the schnitzel: Heat a small amount of oil in a pan and fry the pork on both sides over medium heat. Fry the cutlets until golden brown. Be careful not to overcook them, as they will be baked in the oven later. The cutlets should be crispy but not yet fully cooked. Then place the fried cutlets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
2. Prepare the sauce: Add the chopped onion and garlic to the same pan you used to fry the cutlets. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the onion is soft and translucent. Then add the chopped ham and bell pepper and cook together for another 2 minutes.
3. Add the cream: Pour the cream into the pan and stir well. Simmer the sauce for a few minutes to slightly thicken and allow the flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Depending on your preference, you can add a little more pepper for a spicier sauce.
4. Bake the cutlets: Pour the sauce evenly over the cooked cutlets on a baking sheet. Then sprinkle the cutlets with grated cheese. The cheese melts during cooking, creating a delicious, golden brown crust.
